Are AfterShokz waterproof?
No. AfterShokz are sweat proof and water resistant. That means that sweating during a normal workout will not damage your AfterShokz. Neither will a few drops of water, unless that water gets into the battery box. On the Mobile model, there is a small hole in the battery box where the microphone sits. Should water leak into that hole, battery damage could occur. It is not advisable to wear AfterShokz in the rain. Water damage is not covered under the warranty.
Can I purchase AfterShokz in countries other than the US?
Right now, AfterShokz is offered in the US and Canada. We are setting up distribution in  the UK, South Africa, and Australia and should have product available by the summer of 2012 in those countries. European distribution will follow. Please be patient. We are a new company offering a great product... and meeting the demand for AfterShokz is, well, very demanding. We want to control our growth and keep our manufacturing standards at the highest level (we manufacture in an ISO9000 and MIL10 facility, assuring our customers of the highest possible quality product).
If AfterShokz uses bone conduction technology, why can I hear music playing from the transducers when I take them off?
The AfterShokz bone conduction technology relies on creating vibrations that move through your cheekbone to your inner ear. When the transducers are off your head, the vibrations are moving the air, creating air conducted sound waves much like the speakers do in your home stereo or car stereo. You can hear those air conducted sound waves. Even when you put AfterShokz headphones on your head, the vibrations produced are so intense that some air around the transducers is being moved, creating audible, air conducted sound we call “leakage”. At low to moderate volume levels, the amount of leakage is minimal. At high volume settings, some people close to you will be able to hear your music. Because of this leakage, a few skeptics questions wether AfterShokz are really conducting music through their bones. Here’s the best way to prove that bone conduction really works. Put your AfterShokz on your head, turn them on, and plug your ears (ear plugs or your fingers will work). Without any ambient noise coming in through your ears, you will now experience bone conduction as the sole source of sound.
What is the AfterShokz return policy?
If you have a defective product, you may contact us directly through the contact page on this website and we will instruct you on how to return the headphones to us. We will repair or exchange them at no charge to you. The warranty covers normal use. It does not cover any abuse to the headphones nor does it cover battery life. If you want to return the AfterShokz headphones because you do not like them or they don’t meet your needs, please return them to the place of purchase (again, if you purchased them directly from us, contact us through the contact form on this website and we will arrange to credit your account once we receive the headphones).
What is the frequency response of AfterShokz?
20-20K Hz, which matches the range of normal human hearing. A lot of people ask about frequency response when making audio buying decisions, but these numbers, without a lot of other data, do not tell you much about real world sound quality. More important, since bone conduction is different than air conduction, and everyone’s bones are slightly different (especially density), the actual range of frequency response and the actual “quality” of the audio sound coming from Aftershokz will vary slightly from individual to individual, making everyone’s experience truly unique and extremely difficult to quantify using any air conduction standards that now exist.
